The sometimes comic ups and downs of parental and romantic love among members of a three generation family is explored against the backdrop of a small bordertown cafe (on the Canadian/U.S. border) owned by the family.
Review
GMW plays the teenager, with the whines, sulks and tantrums you'd expect from a character that age. The frustrations of having to live in the middle of nowhere and having to help out at the family run cafe where he lives, being brought up only by his mother while idolising an absent father, a very interesting role that makes for an enjoyable if slightly depressing film.
There's some moments that have you smiling, possibly for the right reasons - when the truck 'Jimmy' is driving comes off the road, witnessed only by the cattle is a very amusing scene, then Jimmy getting all dressed up for his night out with slicked back hair - but possibly the worst crime is the scene where Jimmy wears a suit for his father's wedding... it's so bad, none of the captures of that scene have made this site, the suit is now serving a life sentence for crimes against fashion. This film is also memorable for the chipped tooth Gordon sports, it somehow made the character that little bit more teenager realistic.
