Review
A mixed up crew appear to be stumbling through life as we join the story that is 'The Guard', we join them just as things seem to be at their most complicated. The storylines are gritty, and deal with some of the harsher realities of life and we get to see 'some' of what is involved when you take up the career of a coast guard on Canada's west coast. I say some mainly due to a lot of feedback the show has garnered from 'real-life' coasties, but if nothing else The Guard certainly has some characters involved, its a surprise any rescues are managed! Gordon plays Barry, who is wheelchair bound and operates the radios and basically hangs around the office. With only seven episodes aired so far (which makes up season 1) there really hasn't been enough back story, or any story to really to get a handle on the character. However, what we do know is intriguing but I can't help wanting to know a bit more - the small details we do know, the fact he writes, he seems to be a calming influence, he certainly knows some secrets about the crew, he's for once not a loser with the ladies it appears, and of course, the wheelchair. At this time, as we wait for season two, Barry Winter is a story waiting to be told... I hope!
