Dylan Hunt is the captain of the Andromeda Ascendant, a ship which serves in the military force of the Systems Commonwealth, a monarchy which spans several galaxies. Hunt and his ship are subsequently frozen for several centuries. Revived by a passing salvage ship, Hunt is horrified to find that the Commonwealth has collapsed and all known galaxies have descended into barbarism. Hunt decides to take his ship and crew on a trip around the cosmos to attempt to restore order to the known galaxies.

Review
Gordon Michael Woolvett played Seamus Zelazny Harper for five years, a character that was the only one on the crew to come from Earth. A genius with a gift for engineering he kept the Andromeda Ascendant going all on his own. Almost passing on the chance to play the cocky engineer, the role won GMW a fair number of fans the world over, and in 2003 a Gemini for Hottest Star.

Andromeda allowed Gordon to further explore his writing ambitions and he wrote three episodes in total by the shows end, the second offering 'Abridging the Devil's Divide' became the highest rated episode of the fourth season. Seamus Harper was a great character, with a big bravado of having the intelligence to figure out any computer or engineering type problem, to having the dark demons of his traumatic past surviving on the hell that had become Earth, war torn and under Nietzschean rule.

Throughout the series run Harper would find trouble, from alien downloads (Harper 2.0), to infestation (It's Hour Comes Round at Last) to having to figure out how to stop a ship from exploding while remaining calm (Harper/Delete) but one thing the engineer kept failing to find was love, which became a running joke for the character throughout the series.

Andromeda had its faults, but the choice of actors they had for the main cast was never one of them. They shared a great chemistry that really shone through and made you care about the show like few others can.
