Review
This movie wants to be something else, and to that end it distracts from what is otherwise a good cast, with interesting characters. It was made around the time of other movies of its kind doing it better, but still I do enjoy watching this movie. I also try not to be sad that Callum Keith Rennie was replaced by Stephen McHattie in the main role, and only appears for about five seconds as a token gesture to what could have been (I adore Callum Keith Rennie), though I do wonder if he would have been convincing as the girl's father, when I think McHattie looks more the right age.

That aside and remembering this isn't Rennie Bros - the website, not even sure he has a brother, I know, get over it already, I think this is probably right up there as one of my favourite Gordon movies. I'm sure I'm not alone in wondering what Ziggy has wrong with her to not realise that Walter is all she really needs, and its kinda fun to watch poor Walter going through a version of hell just to stay with her and in his mind, keep her safe until her problem clears up and she finally realises what she has in him.

This is one of those rare films that I can watch and really only watch it because the actors make it interesting. Jason Priestly as Breakfast is as far as he can get from his 90120 days, and I adore Bernie Coulson as Panda being completely nuts throughout. Laura Harris as Ziggy plays the little girl lost but with an edge very well and Stephen McHattie as Drake, despite the Rennie thing, is very very good as the man on the edge. Then to add to that there is the fantastic Lous Gossett Jr, who is amazingly underused but still a class act. Gordon as Walter definitely plays the sane one in a mad bunch, though his sanity of staying with Ziggy is obviously in question.

Gordon is involved in some of the films most pivotal scenes, the one that stands out, if this movie has an iconic moment, would be when he's so pumped on adrenalin he ends up crying out of the sunroof of the car, a very telling moment of just what a man will do to stay with a girl! My favourite scene though remains the one right at the end, with the ring trick, its just one of those nice scenes where very few words are said and makes you just smile.

Definately a must see Gordon movie, the bonus being the DVD with some pretty cool extras including a few words from Gordon in the behind the scenes featurette plus various shots of him on set waiting to do some work!
